Project Brief: How might we assist auto repair shop workers to reduce administrative work so they have more time to repair cars ?

Team : 1 Business Analysts , 1 Backend Developer, 1 Frontend Developer 

My Role   : Research , Wire framing , Mockups , Interaction design

Duration : 4 Weeks 


DESIGN PROCESS

  • Understand pain points of customers

  • Validate the need and come up with problem statement

  • Mapping real world tasks and mental models

  • Creating medium fidelity mockups and validate concept with users

  • Create high fidelity mockups and conduct usability tests

  • Work with Developers,Business analysts and Product manager to implement the solution

Insights from Research:

  • Learning and adapting to new technology is difficult for older demographics

  • Mechanics spend significant time in documentation, leaving them less time to work on cars

  • Mechanics have to ask other co-workers how to use technology

  • Sending timely updates to clients is difficult

  • Rely on phone calls for most client interactions
